Curriculum Vitae

Overview of Experience & Training

I initially trained in three areas: cultural heritage, natural heritage and archaeology.  Since then I have tended to specialise in cultural heritage, in particular buildings, although I regularly draw upon knowledge in other areas.

The years 1999 to 2006 were spent managing the Bath workshop of Cliveden Conservation Workshop Ltd.  I managed nearly 300 projects during this period, mainly stone and plasterwork conservation but also involving the conservation of wall paintings, the removal of graffiti and the restoration of Coade stone amongst other projects.

I worked for Historic Scotland between 2006 and 2008 as a preventive conservator and now have an independent private practice focussing on preventive conservation.  I also specify conservation works and occasionally undertake remedial conservation projects.

My work is mainly in Scotland although I have strong links with the south of England and regularly return there for specific projects.
